Wetland Development
Wetlands are vital to the health and sustainability of Aotearoa’s waterways and coastlines, acting as giant filters, trapping sediment and soils, and removing toxins, contaminants, nitrogen and excess nutrients. They also support New Zealand’s greatest concentration of wildlife, more than any other habitat, while providing essential flood protection for urban areas.
Our appreciation for wetlands as natural stormwater assets is matched by our expertise and experience in building, restoring, enhancing and desilting wetlands, which include major successful projects like the Taiaotea Stream and Sherwood Reserve enhancement, Portland Road Wetland enhancement and Unsworth Ponds & Wetland conversion projects as well as servicing of established wetlands like Waiatarua Reserve.
These projects allowed Glasgow Contractors to really showcase our specialist equipment and skills in transforming and naturalising dilapidated stormwater systems, along with our proficiency in earthworks, silt and sediment removal, dewatering, fish relocation & ecology management. Our environmental enhancement projects often also include the building of fish passage structures, footpaths, boardwalks and other park amenities and services.
